Bahn Mi sandwich was a complete mess. The bun was completely soggy and already ripped by the time it was brought to the table. It tasted ok, but was a complete disaster to eat. Way too much sauce. First time here, so this review is mainly just for that sandwich. Lunch may not be their strong suit, many people were here finishing up their late Sunday breakfast. Also, this place is freezing so being a jacket.

This is not the best corner bakery out there. I came in at around eleven, only to find out that they hadn't started lunch/brunch (in my case) yet and it would be 30 minutes for them to make me a BLT. I ended up ordering a bagel with cream cheese. There was twice too much cream cheese, but it was ok. The chocolate fudge brownie was nothing to rave about. It was too thick with fudge and didn't have enough brownie. Also, this is NOT the cleanest corner bakery, with crumbs on all the booths. I would give it 2 1/2 stars but am being generous.

This is a really nice, clean Corner Bakery that provides an expansive, relaxing atmosphere that really has been lacking on City Avenue. The staff here are so courteous and and attentive, that it's been a great visit here every time. I love treating myself to breakfast here, this seems to be the only location in the Philadelphia region that has full breakfast service with pancakes. The only negative thing that I can mention, being a pancake connoisseur, is that they are a bit inconsistent in quality. But pancakes are a tough art to master. Otherwise, be sure to check this place out!

If I could give this one zero stars, I would. Yes, all of the other reviews that I've seen here ring true. It is a beautiful place, they have an extensive menu, and they are obviously a favorite haunt of yuppies. However, I was absolutely stunned to learn that they wanted nearly $11 all tolled for a simple serving of tuna fish on two pieces of lettuce and one unsweetened iced tea. What happened was there was nothing on the menu that I could eat that was truly diabetic friendly. The only thing I could see that came close to it was some kind of salad dish that featured three different salads such as tuna, chicken, and something else, on a bed of lettuce with a side of carrots etc. which sold for eight dollars and change. It was way too many carbs, calories, and fat for someone that has to watch very closely what they eat. So, I asked for a simple portion of tuna fish served on two pieces of lettuce with an unsweetened iced tea. When the girl rang up the total it came to $10.47 !! I asked her if she was sure, and she said yes. So, I suppose what I needed to do was to buy the entire platter and throw away nearly 3/4 of the food on it just to save a couple of dollars. Sorry - but that just wasn't happening. My friend and I left and went and had a delicious, nutritious, far less fattening and much more healthy (and far less expensive) meal at another restaurant back here in Roxborough. After-thought: A few people here praised this establishment for having "healthy" food. Almost 900 calories for that salad plate is anything but healthy!! Most of the menu items showed they were very close to, or more than 1000 calories. This is not a good example of healthy food at all. Diabetics and dieters beware.

Cute little place specializing in fresh organic ingredients with an emphasis on healthy food. I love there chicken apple sausage.

I just had a cookie, but man! That was a good chocolate chip! There was a 99 cent cookie offer after a certain time of day. Corner Bakery is one of those places that advertise what they are: a cool, casual place to get some food without any hassle. Not fast food, not fancy restaurant. Good option on City Avenue.

Can't really say anything about their food, since I just had coffee. Just stopped in to do about an hour or so worth of work. I was motivated to write a Yelp review simply because the staff here was so genuinely nice and friendly without being intrusive.... not an easy task to accomplish these days. From the counter person to the nice lady tending to the dining area who asked me if I wanted a table with an outlet for my laptop, everyone was really nice. I appreciate that and feel like it should be recognized!

Food is usually good if you get it how you requested it but terrible customer service.

I'm coming to the realization that Corner Bakery, and several of its competitors in the immediate area, are simply a convenience. I have yet to try Corner Bakery's other locations, but this specific location is average. It's a decent enough spot to grab lunch with some friends, or a quick sandwich to take back to the office, but besides that, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. The food there is okay; definitely overpriced for the quality and the portion size. I've had the uptown turkey and the pesto chicken sandwiches, both of which left much to be desired. The only thing saving the uptown turkey was the bread; the toppings and sauce/dressing tasted like they were prepackaged. The pesto chicken seemed more or less like thickly sliced deli meat; it definitely could have used some fresher chicken. Perhaps it was because of the lunch crowd, but there seemed to exist a great deal of disarray among the staff. A few orders had been brought to the table, and we were asked, "Did someone order this...," "Who had that...?" I really think they should consider restructuring their ticket number system. We were also given at least 6 sets of silverware (for 3 people), which I suppose is better than none. But still not necessary, especially since we all ordered sandwiches. I will compliment the entire staff at the cafe, as everyone was very friendly and hard working. The cashiers were very nice, and actually referred to you by name(!), and the servers periodically checked to see if my friends and I needed anything. Our plates were cleared promptly, and I noticed they had begun to wipe down the tables for the next guests as soon as we had left.

Moderately clean. By that I mean there were crumbs and lettuce on some of the tables. My sandwich was pretty pitiful... Uptown Turkey. It's supposed to have avocado. The avocado was one teeny tiny slice of sad avocado on one quarter of my sandwich (or rather avocado on half of my half sandwich). Way to be stingy. It wasn't even lunch rush nor crowded or full. No excuses for the craptacular sandwich.

I asked to buy a loaf of bread and it came out but it was sliced and I wanted it unsliced so they made me a brand new loaf and wrapped it up for me and it was still warm when I got it home. Great service! The treats are inexpensive and not too bad on the tastebuds.

My main issue with Corner Bakery is that it's inconsistent. I've been here a couple of times, and last time I ordered their Anaheim panini (without the bacon) and I really liked it! I ordered the same thing today but it was nowhere near as good as the last time. They didn't look the same either but I thought looks don't matter, right? The one I had today was not toasted enough, oily, just bland and falling apart. I was in a rush so I didn't have time to complain and have it replaced. One the positive side, I like the atmosphere there and the workers are generally nice. Their pastries that are on display are usually good and tasty! Their coffee ain't bad either!

The place is confortable to eat, and the service was ok. I had the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich; it was good but I have to say it was kind of simple. It didnt had spread in the bread so I had to ask for some mayo. After eating here and seing what other people had in their plates I would say its an average ok place to have breakfast.

Early this morning so that I can get the :-) mug and have coffee for year but I was like nah I'm not going long then I realized I should just get up to go to go get breakfast with me and this other customer came in they said that they had just gave all the cups out I really think they had about 10 cups with 20 because if you get one you get another cup for free which both cups are free and you give one to a friend so I decided to just order breakfast a bacon and cheese egg panini and the chicken cheese in panini and a side of fruit cup it looks good but this is my first time ordering a breakfast and their danishes and other stuff look delicious. I really hope the breakfast is good because when I go to work something for breakfast I know they lunch is good and the dinner which is the sandwiches and the soups and salads and if I wasn't paying attention this morning all the things that I had ordered the guard charged me $27 and I shall hold it wait a minute thats not what I ordered he charge me full price for the side of fruit salad when it should have just been a dollar with my sandwich which is a, so he had to get the manager and the line was so long it was almost out the door because he was talking so much and keep saying talk that he just came in and didn't know what he was doing so the manager fixed it and then my bill came down to 8.7 I want to go back in the storm sitting in my car but I want to go back in the store and get me a Danish could they look so so good.

Can I just tell you that the Sante Fe Ranch Salad is AWESOME. I truly enjoyed it. My Lunch companion got the same as well as soup - broccoli and cheese --and loved it. The portion was perfect and it was exceptional. I know it's just a salad but when someone prattles on and on about it, you know it was good. I highly recommend it. We sat outside, which could have been nice were it not for the garbage truck that was there almost the entire time and the hover crowd waiting for tables. But aside from that, the food was really very good and the staff were polite!

Amazing breakfast sandwiches! The apple chicken sausage with egg whites on a thin whole grain panini is delicious!

  • Adri T.

The food is average and overpriced for the small portions they give you. It doesn't stop me from coming sometimes but it would be nice to get more for my money.

I am not sure what I expected coming here. BTW- this review is like 5months over due. I didn't to journey all the way to Panera which is my fave fave place. I ordered the Tuna salad (that's wha I would have ordered at Panera). It was def not comparable to the Panera version. Even if it was it's own creation, it just wasn't good. Haven't been back since although I know I should give it another try but....maybe sometime later.

So you park, walk in, glance at the cakes on the table & stare at the counter that has quite an assortment of cookies. Then as you feast your eyes on the menu above the register, your eyes then dart behind the counter & you can also see all the yummy pastries they have. Or, you can try to look away if your on a diet. You get to the counter & place your order. If your going to eat there then you can sit at a table or a booth. I am trying to watch my waist line. So today for dinner, I had "The Trio" it consists of a soup & 2 side salads. I ordered The Spring Asparagus soup, Tomato, Mozzarella, Arugula Salad & The Asian Edamame Salad. I liked the soup & the tomato, mozzarella, arugula salad is in a vinegarette dressing & it was very good. The Asian Edamame Salad was definetly different it consisted of edamame beans, carrots, ginger (just like the stuff that you put on sushi), tomatoes, cucumber, cilantro, basil & green onions. I thought it was ok I was not a huge fan. My problem during this visit was with the silverware. The spoon that came with my soup had stains. I asked for a new spoon & more stains ?!?!! I showed her the spoon & asked for another & finally this one was clean. Def, take a good look at your silverware before digging in. However, I usually do not have any problems with silverware here so I was honestly quite surprised. I do like there menu options & I am a huge fan of there cold hibiscus tea. I like to put ice & brown sugar in mine. I love that this place is never too packed & I there are plenty of seating options. Parking here can be busy & can be quite chaotic. The lot is basically shared with Honeygrow another food establishment & this parking lot is right by the Lord & Taylor and Acme.

I'll keep the review short. I come here for two reasons. Most of the time, I come here to do work as they have free coffee refills of acceptable quality coffee. It's not great, but it does the job. There is free wifi and ample seating. There aren't many seats with outlet access, but, can't fault them for that. While i'm working, I usually end up getting breakfast food. The garden gate scrambler is pretty good. Eggs, veggies, mushrooms, chicken sausage, served with toast, and i get fruit usually, all for probably around 400 cals and $7. Not bad. The soups are also decent. The tortilla is spot on. The other reason I come here is when I travel, and really don't have time to explore the local options. I know what i'm getting for breakfast, and it hits the spot. The thing is, if it wasn't for these two reasons, I highly doubt I would ever say, hey, its a nice sunday and I have nothing to do, lets go to corner bakery for breakfast/lunch/dinner. So, I guess you can figure out how I feel about the place. It's utilitarian, and it works.

The Chopped Salad pales in comparison to California pizza kitchen's BBQ Chicken Salad. You gotta go full sized for a buck more cause the cafe size just doesn't cut it. I've had the trio salad combo none of which we're any good and the chicken salad being downright bad. This place doesn't deliver (unless it's catering) either which is a huge negative for office lunches. Haven't tried their sandwhiches yet (which I hear to be there redeeming factor), but the rest of the menu doesn't hold out much hope.

Corner Bakery Cafe is a good spot to enjoy a casual meal in a comfortable environment. I can't believe I've spent all these mornings doing work at Starbucks around the corner....I'd much rather be here! I came for breakfast and the place was pretty empty around 7:30am. Plenty of seating so I highly doubt it'd be completely full (though it might be more crowded around lunchtime). Employees were friendly and my food came out promptly, so no services issues like other people experienced. My egg white, cheddar cheese, and apple chicken sausage sandwich on harvest bread was a steal at $5. Coffee bar was pretty extensive with all types of artificial sweetener nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. My only complaint is that the sandwich was REALLY greasy. Given that I was going for a healthy breakfast option, I was a bit disappointed. I held the sandwich with napkins to try to soak up some of the grease. Next time I will just ask them to cut down on the butter/spray/whatever else they use for panini sandwiches. I also found it very cold in there. But regardless, it was a very comfortable place to sit and do work!

This place was great, it reminded me much like cosi but a lot better. I had the chicken chilli soup and it was great huge portion and perfect prices . This is a great choice for lunch.

I come to this place pretty much once a week since my office is very close by. While this place hasn't been open all that long, and was pretty rough service-wise at first they've definitely ironed out any initial issues and are now the best option for lunch on City Ave. The area is populated by chain places catering to either office workers or cheap college students, so it isn't exactly saying much that this place is the best around, but it is. Consistently really good food, large, comfortable interior, and solid service. Their bacon is actually good bacon too - I typically go with the Uptown Turkey but the pretzel roll options and BBLT are all great. Watch those sodium levels though big boy.

Flavor and quality were good but too much dressing. Next time I order Asion Wonton cafe size I will ask to halve the amount of dressing!

Not much to say about this place. The food is good the restaurant is clean and service is good. The prices are reasonable. Its a nice fast casual restaurant. Great place to have lunch, something for everyone.

I'm honestly shocked about how good this Corner Bakery is, mainly because it's hard to find a chain on City Ave. that doesn't consistently have problems with customer service or food quality. Everything here is always fresh, the cashiers are always so friendly, and the portions are a pretty decent size. The only thing that keeps this location from being a 5-star spot, is the time it takes to get the food. I can completely understand the "lunch and dinner rushes" but I've been there numerous times on a Sunday when it was flat-out empty and it still took about 15 minutes to have 2 sandwiches made. I don't mind because I enjoy sitting outside and I usually go on Sundays, but I can see how frustrating this may be for people with only 1/2 hour-1 hour lunch break during the week. Other than that one minor flaw, I really am impressed how well this location is in comparison to other Corner Bakeries and the other businesses on City Ave. I credit alot of it to great management and great hiring practices. Keep it up Corner Bakery!

I'm a city gal working in the chain restaurant hell that is Bala Cynwyd and it was literally the happiest day of my professional life when Corner Bakery opened its doors across the street from my office. Yes, I know Corner Bakery is a chain restaurant, but it is a chain restaurant that actually serves fresh, healthy (and even meatless!) options unlike the reconstituted dog food you get from Qudoba or Potbelly. Since they've opened, I've always found the service to be quick whether getting takeout or eating in. Sometimes you have to deal with Bala senior citizens who ask you things like "HURRR, what does hibiscus tea mean?" but other than that, it's usually quick in, quick out. Four stars instead of five because once I dined in and my tomato soup with croutons seemed like it was originally a takeout order they slopped in a bowl, because the croutons were soggy and immersed at the bottom. I've got my eye on you, Corner Bakery, but we good for now.

They have Fresca, that is all I really need to say ha ha. This is a nice place to come sit while you enjoy some food. You can have something sweet, savory or both, you will not be disappointed in the least! They also have a fairly large coffee selection for a chain which is a pleasant surprise. I did not find the music to be to loud as I did not even hear they were playing any but I will be sure to check it out next time.

I come here on a weekly basis to do some studying. It's a really nice space and even better when you have a seat near an outlet. The food is really good, from the sandwiches to the cookies, but the service is terrible. Many times I have been given incomplete orders where I had to actually get up and ask for something I had paid for. The place oftentimes isn't even crowded but there's never enough people working the register when I go, and the manager seems to be doing the best she can. Also, I wish the prices were cheaper or that they'd at least have some sort of rewards card like Panera Bread or Cosi. It's a good place to study and have a meal if you're going to be around for awhile.

  • Diane M.

My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast. We were in from out of town and it seemed like a cute little place for some food. It took a while for them to actually take our order at the register and the wait time for our food was long as well. But the actual food was DELICIOUS!!! I got eggs and bacon on a panini. It was kind of small but that's okay. My boyfriend got the most insanely scrumptious french toast. Oh I also got a truffle hot chocolate that was so rich and decadent- yum!!!

This was my second time at a Corner Bakery, my first experience was bad (waited so long I got a refund and left) so I figured maybe they can redeem themselves - WRONG! My order was wrong, making my wait even longer. There was a employee just standing in front of the soda machine, drinking soda (she didn't bother to move when customers approached) Total lack of customer service skills, the manager was just putzing around as well... Corporate needs to evaluate the manager and staff at this location... I'll stick to Panera, it's cheaper and I know it's always consistent.

  • Brittany F.

I want to add a note about the customer service at this Corner Bakery. I went in and ordered the breakfast combo and when I got to work after trudging through the pouring rain I noticed that they did not give me my breakfast potatoes in my combo. I called the restaurant and they offered to deliver them to me since my office was so close! I definitely appreciate the extra effort.

  • Thomas E.

While the food is fine, the service could not be worse. It has been bad since the day it opened. The counter service is lousy and slow. Today, I waited 15 minutes for soup. It wasn't until another take-out customer came back to the restaurant with my soup that anyone realized that a mistake had been made. If there is a manager, he or she should be fired and every staff member should be sent to a training school. The restaurant's location makes it convenient for a lunch crowd but I would imagine the professionals nearby will tire of the poor service.

I ate lunch here with two of my cousins on Saturday the 9th after a 5 mile walk and the food was Delicious. the service was excellent and we enjoy a healthy lunch after exercising. I will be back to order lunch during the work week. Thank you for opening a new and creative eatery in a area I must travel by when going to and from work!

I do love Corner Bakery and used to frequent the one on JFK, but this one is awful. They look over staffed, because everyone just stands and stares at you with nothing to do. The service is SO SLOW as is the cashier. I have never seen so any people with blank looks on their faces before at a cashier. They hand me my breakfast in a crinkled bag, which is confusing because i saw it laid flat prior to the person touching it. Although the food is great, it's hard to just stop by this location because you might be late to work. Management needs to step up and hire some energetic people!

  • Morris B.

First off. I like the layout of corner bakery when you walk in. You literally walk into the waiting line. The customer service isn't over-the-top but it's always busy so understandable. I think some people hear "bakery" and expect the desserts to be A+. Keep in mind, they aren't calling themselves "best bakery" or anything. The name just means "we're just a bakery on the corner." With that being said, I've tried the lemon cake and most of their cookies. Stick to their cake for the most bang for your buck. The food is fairly priced and they give good portions. It's a pretty solid place for food to be a chain restaurant. Better than Cosi or Panera. Im not throwing any shade, I promise.

Good. Real good. So good ! I came here on a Tuesday afternoon for an Anaheim scrambler. I was a little weary, because I love corner bakery so much and I've been to the first ones in California. I am so pleased oh my gahhhhhhh the scrambler was perfect, the people were extra kind and courteous, and the manager was making her rounds to say hi to everyone. It was a great experience and I will certainly be back for my applewood chicken fix.

We've had a variety of lunch items from the corner bakery and enjoyed all of them. The Mac and cheese is very good and creamy while the meatball sandwich will knock your socks off. I also like their salad sampler and other salads. The food comes out fast, but on a take out order we paid for two side salads, when we got home we found out we only got one and received no response to multiple emails about the issue. So A for food D for customer service satisfaction

This place was good. It was empty when we went in late at night and the building was large and roomy. The atmosphere was nice. There was a large selection of condiments that were available. I also liked how your food was delivered to your table. The selection of food reminded me of a Panera Bread, because there were sandwiches and soups. The food wasn't the greatest food, but it wasn't the worst either. I would not go here all the time, but this is the type of place that is good to go to once in a while.

    (3)
  • Carrie P.

The quality of food here is good. Better than a fast food place. But it's very over priced for what it is. I had a smaller size of Mac and cheese with a drink , and a kids meal and it ran me close to $20. The kids meal Mac and cheese was the same size as mine. Should have ordered that instead it came with a cookie. All in all it's an okay place for a quick meal.

The preparer who made my fruit smoothee wiped the lip of the cup with her not-so-clean apron. Perhaps it was that -- who knows -- that caused me gastrointestinal distress that evening. Also, mounds of mayonnaise on a panini are not my idea of good eating
